Mission Statement:
WCSPA curates and maintains a space for diverse young artists to explore their creative interests through self-actualization, working in partnership with families and the community to achieve the dynamic educational outcomes necessary to become productive, ethical, and successful citizens.
Student Learning Objectives
Work ethic
- Students who participate in WCSPA will experience a professional working environment that prepares them for higher education, vocational/technical training, or, to enter the workforce after high school
- Students will experience the awesome potential of collaboration and creation in an environment that encourages risk-taking and rewards hard work
- Students are given realistic expectations and counseling on their post-secondary education and vocational options
Communication
- Students will learn the importance of effectively transmitting ideas to their peers in individual, small group, and large group settings as well as being given tools to effectively communicate with teachers, managers, and staff
- Students are taught to use their unique and individual offerings to further the greater good of a project, as well as the value of forging meaningful personal relationships along the way
- Students will learn to conduct themselves in a manner that fosters mutual respect and understanding and prepares them to become good citizens of the world
Social Responsibility
- Students will actively engage in dramatic literature that increases their understanding of our diverse world, developing respect and empathy for others
- Students will learn to operate effectively within an organization and engage in positive methods of conflict resolution and compromise
Personal and professional integrity
- Students will have a rounded experience that gives them insight into and respect for many areas of performing arts
- Students are asked to self-regulate their behavior and set goals for themselves in an atmosphere of trust and high expectations
- Students will understand the importance of ensuring a task has been performed correctly, and gain a sense of responsibility for the safety and security of others
Academic rigor
- Students will actively improve their academic proficiencies and learn how to effectively use digital tools and connections with core subjects to enhance their academic and artistic output
- Students participating in WCSPA will maintain competitive grades in their academic courses in order to participate in WCSPA’s extra-curricular activities
